Dance Clinic Information
The Highsteppers' Dance Clinics help introduce young women to The Highsteppers
unique style of dance and performance. Last year's Clinic was held in February
and a summer clinic was also offered. Both were a great success.

Becoming a Highstepper
For young women wishing to become a Highstepper in the future, Director Smith suggests training in dance. The
McCullough Junior High Highland Girl Drill Team program is also an excellent way to prepare for the Highstepper
program.
Tryouts are held each spring on The Woodlands High School campus. Prior to the tryout there is a mini-camp to help
the dancers with the choreography and technique. Please contact Director Smith early in the school year for information
on key dates and requirements.
Costs:
The initial cost of participation in the Highsteppers Drill Team Program depends on the amount of practice items
purchased and whether or not 'new' or 'used' items are ordered. Veteran team members usually spend less than
$100.00. Camp is $100.00 but is only required for first year members.
Time Commitment:
The Highstepper schedule is year-round and requires commitment from each member. Dancers can expect daily
practice of 2 - 3 hours including class time and after-school. After-school practice usually runs from approximately 3:15
pm to 5:15 pm during the duration of football season and from January through March during competition season.
Additionally, the team holds practice daily in the 2 to 3 weeks prior to the start of the school year.
